On the picturesque yet challenging Staffordshire Moorlands, Dennis and his wife Sandra lived the daily struggle of early morning wake-ups to heat their home with a log burner, followed by long waits for hot water. The introduction of sustainable energy solutions by RES, including an air source heat pump, solar panels, and enhanced loft insulation, revolutionised their home experience.
Dennis expressed his gratitude, saying,
“Our mornings are completely different now. We can have showers early, my radiators are warm, and there’s plenty of hot water. This is the lifestyle I want as I get older—just get out of bed, and everything’s warm and cosy.”
Central to Dennis’ transformation was the installation of an air source heat pump. Living in an area frequently battered by wind, rain, and snow, Dennis found this innovation crucial for maintaining consistent warmth. The heat pump extracts warmth from the air outside—even during cold weather—enhancing home comfort and energy efficiency.
Alongside the heat pump, solar panels have been instrumental in cutting down energy bills while reducing the household’s carbon footprint.
“Installation started in May, and in just a week and a half, it was completed. Everything went as smoothly as it possibly could,”
Dennis noted, highlighting the efficiency of the RES team.
Equally important was the loft insulation upgrade, ensuring that the house remained energy-efficient year-round.
“This home was a low E when we conducted the retrofit assessment. Now, it’s a low A, significantly improving their SAP bands,”
